Allergies Rising

Between 2001 and 2005, GP diagnoses of allergic rhinitis rose by a third. This includes allergies to pollen, animal fur and dust mites, and may not reflect accurate figures as many people self-medicate instead of going to the GP for a diagnosis.

This rise was accompanied by a 42% increase in prescriptions for antihistamines and nasal steroids. Researchers are concerned that these prescriptions may not be tackling the problem correctly – antihistamines in particular are often the wrong choice of medication according to the report in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Increasingly, we are seeing these problems on an all-year-round basis, severely affecting people’s quality of life. It’s important to remember that once the hayfever season has passed, there will still be quantities of people suffering from allergic rhinitis, only too grateful for the relieving qualities of Luffa Complex and Luffa Nasal Spray, which come without the side effects often associated with antihistamine medication and steroidal nasal sprays.

The Hay Fever Health Report, commissioned by Kleenex, reveals that 39% of hay fever sufferers experienced reduced concentration throughout the working day, and were only able to work at an average of 63% of their normal productivity rate when experiencing the symptoms. Based on the amount of time employers were not working at full capacity, it was calculated that businesses are losing up to £7.1 billion a year due to hay fever.

More concerningly, for those affected with the condition, many bosses were unsympathetic to sufferers, with 32% saying they'd question commitment if an employee took a day off due to hay fever symptoms.

Clearly it behoves us to provide relief to the sufferers, and to their bosses, by bringing the herb Luffa to their notice. As this remedy doesn't cause the side effects of drowsiness and lack of concentration found with some antihistamine-type medications, it will not cause more problems than it solves!
