Average rating: | Frequently Asked Question, 24th Jan 2009 | Reviewer: Julie Goodwin | Q. Can Udo's Oil be taken whilst I'm pregnant?
A. Yes - it should be a priority whilst pregnant! A developing foetus has heightened nutritonal needs, especially for essential fatty acids. If a mother to be does not include sufficient EFAs in her meals, the foetus' needs will cause her to drain herself of omega 3. This often causes worsened post-natal mood swings from a "drained brain". By ensuring a good supply, not only does the mother nourish her child, she also safeguards her ongoing sanity.
Another fabulous reason to keep good fats high when pregnant is the benefits of skin suppleness - well fed skin is less likely to stretch and scar in the same way dry, brittle skin is and when the baby is born, should return to its former glory more promptly. | | Men's Health Supplement Awards 2009 -, 3rd Jun 2009 | Reviewer: Julie Goodwin | In their annual awards where a panel of Britain's leading Nutritionists and Trainers judge the merits of supplements available in the UK, Men's Health have judged Udo's Choice Oil Blend the Winner in the category of "Best for Losing Weight".
The panel found that the "healthy fats" (Omega 3 Alpha Linolenic Acid - ALA and Omega 6 Linoleic Acid - LA) that make up Udo's Oil are an important factor in the battle to lose weight. They also approved of the the quality of its ingredients and the fact that, unlike fish oils (which do not contain ALA or LA anyway) Udos Oil does not smell like a fishmonger! | | Ask the Expert - Top Question of the Month, 3rd Jun 2009 | Reviewer: Julie Goodwin | Q. I have a 2 year old daughter who has eczema and I was wondering at what age she can start having Udo's Oil?
A. Children can consume Udo's Choice Oil Blend as soon as they are on solid food. As your daughter is 2 years old, she is absolutely fine to have the oil.
The amount she should have will vary according to her weight, as she gets older and grows. The amount Udo recommends is 1 x 15ml tablespoon per 50lb/25kg of body weight. What that looks like in practice is: If your daughter weighs 24 lbs/12kg she should eat 7.5ml of oil per day - that is 1 and a half teaspoons full. As with all new foods, start with much less than this amount, mix it well with her food and have some with each of her meals. Gradually increase the daily amount to the recommended amount as her body adjusts to digesting and absorbing the oil.
The best way we find of getting oil into children is to whizz it up in a smoothie, and our favourite recipe is:
250ml of milk, soyamilk or fruit juice
One banana or handful of berries
Udo's Choice oil
Whizz it all up in a blender, and hey presto the oil disappears! | | Ask the Expert - Top Question of the Month, 3rd Jun 2009 | Reviewer: Julie Goodwin | Q. I have a 2 year old daughter who has eczema and I was wondering at what age she can start having Udo's Oil?

Whizz it all up in a blender, and hey presto the oil disappears! | | Question of the Month, 5th Aug 2010 | Reviewer: Julie Goodwin | Q. I am on a calorie counting weight loss programme. Including Udo's Oil increases my calories by a huge amount. How can I hope to lose weight this way?
A. The essential fatty acids in Udo's Choice actually improve the way that your body deals with fat. By making your body more efficient at oxidising fat, and making it less efficient at storing fat, you'll actually find that eating the right fats can make you thin! You'll also benefit from a more stable blood sugar, so be less prone to snacking, and your meals will keep you feeling fuller for longer. |
